The Good Food and Wine Show was once again hosted in the Cape Town International Convention Centre this year. The show took place form Thursday, 29 May 2014, to Sunday, 1 June 2014.
There’s been so much said on social media platforms about the show, the exhibitors and the celebrities who took part in the show. Some have said things like the show needs to be reinvented from scratch and others said they had a blast, just like every year.
The show this year, had an “open” feel to it in the sense that even though multitudes of visitors were moving between stands, it didn’t feel so crowded as it usually does. Face it, it’s a popular show and the people flock in their masses each year.
It was refreshing to see quite a large number of “smaller” exhibitors. The likes of Fagins Fudge, Simoncello, Buttanut and so forth. Over the previous few years the show started feeling as though there weren’t space for the newbie products, the small guy making his own mushrooms spread etc.
The food truck section was a big hit amongst visitors to the show, where they could grab some grub from their favourite food vending trucks. The Beer Route was another popular section of the show where an array of craft beers could be sampled and purchased.
The usual suspects graced the show: Pesto Princess, Sweet Temptations Toffee, Eureka Mills and a few more familiar faces. Although their products aren’t anywhere new to the shelves anymore, it’s still nice to see them, taste what they have on offer and spend a few bucks in support of their dedication.
