Bruschetta is a lovely Italian antipasti, which is like a starter or snack type meal. Basically slices of crusty bread is brushed with olive oil and crushed garlic, then lightly toasted and then topped with various toppings.
There are no limits to the toppings that can be used with bruschetta. Macerated tomatoes, a variety of cold meats, cheese, vegetables and spreads. The idea with preparing, serving and eating bruschetta, is a fresh and simple approach. Pair simple flavours together to create beautiful, great tasting food. It’s lovely to serve as a light meal at out door eating get-togethers too. Smoked meat and fish can also be used, like smoked salmon with creme fraiche and capers or smoked beef with horseradish and watercress. There’s really no limit!
