Chocolate butter cake
Usually, when thinking of butter cake, a vanilla cake comes to mind, right? Well, this chocolate butter cake is absolutely divine! It’s rich, buttery and perfect to bake as a ring cake and serve at tea time. I love baking ring cakes, as decorating them is usually simple and fuss free.
I always urge people who ask for advice when decorating cakes, to make use of fresh flowers. Flowers or even herbs from the garden look so nice on cakes, tarts and pastries. Especially if you’re having a tea party, it rounds the look and feel of the setting off perfectly.
I decorated the butter cake with a very simple and easy to prepare chocolate glaze and a few chocolate shavings. If I baked the cake as a regular round cake, I would’ve filled it with a decadent chocolate ganache and maybe use a few chocolate truffles on top to round it off. But for serving the cake as part of your tea treats, this chocolate glaze works perfectly!
