I recently had a bottle of Bramon “The Crags” Sauvignon Blanc 2011 which I must say was absolutely delicious. For those of you that might not know of this estate, it is situated 18 km’s East of Plettenberg Bay just off the N2, A quaint little cellar that produces reasonably low volume, high quality wines. As pioneers in the area they have been making wines for just over a decade. The estate boasts a wonderful restaurant and wedding venue.
On a trip through this region some time ago I purchased a couple of bottles of the 2011 and 2012 vintage of “The Crags” Sauvignon Blanc. The 2011 shows tremendous golden colour, much like you would find on a top quality Chenin Blanc, with delicate tropical fruit notes and an undercurrent dried apricot on the palate. the finish is dry and crisp with lovely acidity.
This could have easily lay another 2-3 years.
I do think that I will keep the 2012 for about 2 more years.
