The availability of ground chicken these days have opened up the possibility to so many other things we can do with chicken. Proper chicken patties for burgers and chicken meatballs – or would that be chicken balls? Who knows. It’s just so nice to be able to buy chicken mince and not to have to struggle with whole chicken breasts, trying to make your own ground chicken.
These little chicken pops are totally addictive. Also made with ground chicken with the addition of preserved green fig. They are the perfect combination of sweet and salty. They’re also deep fried, which makes them totally fall in the comfort food category. The pops are served with a yoghurt and mint dip, which is fabulous, but they are really good with plain old mayonnaise too; while we’re busy looking at the comfort food category.
Green fig preserve is often over looked as a main ingredient and more though of as a cheese board companion, but the right amount combined with the right ingredients, and you’ll be smiling all the way.
