French Photographers Akiko Ida and PierreJavelle have been working on a commercial food project since 2002, they have photographed various
toyfigurinesstrutting their stuffon different food components. The photographs tell a story, although the story isn’tshown to the viewer in words, the scene itself gives the viewer a visual idea of what the photographers are trying to portray. The idea I get from lookingat thephotographs is this fun, miniature world-sort of like Charlie and the chocolate factory.
These tiny people are walking on bridges made of sushi and climbing the walls of Puff Pastry. Theseare all the imaginationswe casually day dream about and are the sort ofimages wefind inchildren’s books. But these photographs give the opportunityfor adultsto view and think about.
These French photographersare inspired by comics and food journals that have quirkycartoons of different food products and dishes.
Their workhas beenexhibited in galleries, online galleries and publications. Below are a few of their photographs.
