Buying good quality ice cream is fairly easy these days. It’s also easy to serve store bought ice cream for dessert, but it can easily be made more special by serving a homemade sauce along side. Make a hot cherry sauce to serve with good quality vanilla ice cream by simply combining a punnet of stoned cherries with a generous squeeze of lemon juice and 2 – 3 tablespoons castor sugar in a medium saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer and allow to thicken slightly. Serve the sauce warm or keep it in a jar in the fridge.
