Hummus is a delicious Middle Eastern chickpea dip or spread flavoured with tahini, garlic and cumin. Tahini is a sesame seed paste, similar in texture to peanut butter. Hummus can be served with breads, vegetables, with grilled meat, chicken etc. So, in celebration of International Hummus day, here is how to make this very healthy yummy spread.
Combine 1 tin drained chickpeas with a squeeze of lemon juice, 1 clove garlic, 30 ml tahini, 5 ml ground cumin, 125 ml olive oil and salt and pepper in a food processor. Blend until the paste is smooth or leave it slightly chunky if your prefer. Keep it in the fridge and drizzle more olive oil over and a sprinkle of paprikabefore serving.
