Meringue is one of the easiest things to make, but you have to take your time while preparing it and follow the steps carefully in order to be successful.
Beat 4 egg whites with 220 g castor sugar over a double boiler until thick and glossy then add a heaped teaspoon of corn flour. Mix it through and add 5 ml vanilla essence. Bake any shape meringues in a preheated oven at 150C for about 60 to 90 minutes. Turn the oven off and allow the meringue to cool in the oven. Use the meringue for pavlova, cake decorations or as part of desserts.
