The next time you enjoy a lovely fresh pineapple, don’t throw the peel out – rather make a batch of pineapple beer. It’s so easy!
Take the eel of one pineapple and place it in a large plastic container (make sure it’s clean!). Add about one cup white sugar, 2 cups luke warm water and 2.5 ml instant yeast. Stir until the sugar has dissolved then cover the container. Wrap it with clingfilm and place it in a warm spot for at least 8 hours. After the 8 hours, strain the pineapple beer into a screw-cap bottle and add 6 – 8 raisins or sultanas. Place it in the fridge and serve with lots of ice.
