The first Cellarbake took place on Sunday, 23 March 2013, on the picturesque Nitida wine farmin the Durbanville wine valley and what a memorable event indeed!
The concept of Cellerbake brought together artisanal baked goods and award winning wines. Bakers from around the Cape prepared gorgeous, signature bakes which were masterfully paired with Nitida and Mreson wines by Michael Olivier.
Michael Olivier is well known for his culinary capabilities and his great appreciation of fine quality wines, so its no surprize that he expertly pleased the palates of festival goers.
It was a beautiful day in the wine valley and people flocked to the first of the new annual Cellarbake to enjoy eats, treats and signature wines. Musicians Ricky Nass and Chris Rain entertained with live tunes and kids were kept busy in the kids kitchen by Julies Cake Studio and Siwood School of Cookery students.
Together The Tea Merchant and Cassia Restaurant (situated on the Nitida wine farm) coordinated a lovely high-tea with mouth-watering delights including scones, truffles, brioche and much more.
Nitida owners, Peta and Bernhard Vellers hard work, preparation and planning paid off greatly as Cellarbake was a wonderful success with plenty of satisfied festival goers already looking forward to next years event.
