Pajama’s & Jam
Before you even walk through the doors of Pajamas & Jam in Strand (near Somerset West) your senses are in-snared by a delight of sites, smells and sounds. This quirky little gem of an eatery extends into a treasure trove of vintage collectables and is (literally) packed to the rafters with everyday objects from yesteryear.
We found our seat near the comforting fire place next to a tall tower of leather and cardboard suitcases. Amongst the variety of interesting objects covering every square inch of the walls and shelves are rusty signage, pictures, enamel utensils and even motorcar grills dating from the 50s and 60s.
Pajamas & Jam is the brain child of the De Villiers women, mom Sandra and daughters Natasha and Melissa runs a tight ship offering excellent service. The supply of seductive baked goods is almost overwhelming and the menu offers delights such as sandwiches made with their own home baked breads and all day breakfasts. The overall experience is reminiscent of visits to your Oumas kitchen making it easy to understand why first time visitors become regulars.
