This peach crumble is an absolute no-brainer! It is terribly easy to prepare and chances are you probably have just about all the ingredients in your cupboard already. It’s not quite crumble weather yet, but I’m not one to keep to eating according to weather patterns, so why not give it a go.
I make use of custard powder – no don’t pull a face at me… I know everyone has a jar of instant custard powder in the back of the cupboard. The trick to make it really good, is to mix it with some fresh cream. Cream can do that – turn “regular” into SPECTACULAR! If you can still find fresh peaches at the shops, by all means, put them to good use. But I find that tinned peaches work pretty well in baked desserts, so don’t fear that your crumble will be inferior in taste.
Whenever I work with peaches, I always sing the song Peaches by The Presidents of the United States of America. You know how it goes… “Movin’ to the country I’m gonna eat a lot of peaches…” Try it sometime – it adds to the fun.
