Kids, and quite a few adults I know, love these kind of biscuits. Kids especially enjoy assisting in the baking of them as it can be a fun and interactive process for them to press (or pipe) the biscuit dough onto baking sheets. All shapes and sizes will make its appearance when the kids get involved, but it makes for ideal learning.
This biscuit dough recipe is the perfect recipe to keep aside for those adventurous days when the kids are allowed into the kitchen. The dough is easy to prepare, although an adult should still always be present during these kitchen “play times”. Place the dough either into a cookie press with your choice of pattern disc, or scoop it into a piping bag fitted with a plain or star nozzle, depending on what shape of biscuit you desire. The biscuits also bake quite quickly, so it’s important to keep a close eye on them in the oven.
When the decorating time comes round, the kids really get excited, as melted chocolate, glace icing, sprinkles of any kind or even chopped nuts can be used to prettify the biscuits.
Make a double batch of dough and have a wee bit of fun in the kitchen!
