The shelves of supermarkets are packed with gorgeous, plump fresh figs at the moment and it would be a shame if you don’t use some figs in at least one recipe!
If figs don’t often feature in your kitchen, then this recipe would be a really good one to try out. The flavour of the figs after they’ve poached for a minute in the most tantalising syrup, will leave you speechless. And that’s a promise!
Instead of serving the figs with meringue, which could be a bit too much effort for some, try a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. As long as you don’t skip (or skimp) on the figs. The combination of vanilla, cinnamon and star anise enhances the flavour of the already exotic fig that every bite transcends you further and further into some exotic far-away wonderland!
