If you ever find yourself with a few leftover croissants from breakfast or brunch, don’t through them out – even if they are a little stale. This custard croissants recipe will help you turn those slight bready croissants into the most amazing tea time treats.
It has a few components, like prepared custard and frangipane, but if you don’t have some frangipane sitting in the freezer, or you simply are not in the mood to prepare some, then go without it. The croissant will still taste really fantastic!
How to make custard croissants with stale croissants
In this recipe I filled the croissant with thick store bought custard, chocolate and cherries, but you can also fill it with custard, poached pear and almonds or custard, white chocolate and cranberries. Any combination of ingredients that tickle your fancy can be used.
I spread a little frangipane over the top before baking it for about 20 minutes. It tastes amazing! You simply have to try it. It can be made with mini croissants too and be served as part of a tea snack platter – your guests will love you forever!
